1993-94 Kevin Stevens HOME
Kevin Stevens jersey worn during the 1993/94 season home games. The amount of wear on this jersey is evident as there are literally hundreds of stick/puck marks, dozens of un-repaired holes, numerous loose threads and board burns, a few paint transfers, and heavy pilling inside both of the sleeves. This more than likely would have been a playoff jersey or a second half of the season jersey. There is definitive evidence that this is a 93/94 jersey. First off, the alternate captain "A" is tall and narrow, a font that started appearing on this style of jerseys during the end of the 93/94 season. I have found photo-graphic evidence of Stevens accepting the 93/94 Masterton nominee award during one of the Penguins last home games. The photo shows him with the alternate captain "A" that is long and narrow. His number #25 and a 94 is written in sharpie on the front and back of the CCM collar/wash tag and all number 94's I have seen on photo-matched jerseys (Jagr example here) were worn during the 93/94 season. Both numbers show signs of fading from washing and are "yellowing" from absorbing and bleeding into the collar tag over the years. As with most Stevens jerseys, the fight strap has been cut out. The wear on this jersey exemplifies the type of player Kevin Stevens was when he played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and is a great jersey for my collection. This jersey is possibly photo-matched to the black and white photo below. You can clearly see a repair and a hole in the upper left hand shoulder area. That being said, there are puck/stick marks present that do not match, although it's quite possible some were washed out and/or added during a later game.
